Alternative teak

Now you can lay a non–skid boat deck without having to take part in the destruction of the rare rain forest.A non–skid alternative to teak on boat decks are now being marketed by Flexiteek Norway AS.

It is produced with a special PVC – granulate containing penetrating wood structure, and the deck can be sanded without destroying the structure. When the deck gets wet, the non–skid capabilities increase.

The Norwegian distributor says the product has been tested both under Norwegian and tropical conditions. Wear quality is good, regardless of weather and treatment. A dozen well–known boat manufacturers are testing and using Flexiteek today, says Jan Erik Reenskaug. Flexiteek Norway AS.

The product has an environmental advantage regarding the reduced consumption of teak, which saves and protects the rain forest. It looks like teak, it has improved properties regarding wear, rain, sun and UV–radiation. The decking is easy to install. The product does not burn easily, fire class 0.
