World Land Trust – Corporate Sponsorship
In 2020, Flexiteek produced 73,589m² of decking. (Equivalent to the size of 12 Football Pitches)
In partnership with World Land Trust (WLT), we have donated £5 for every 10m² of decking produced which has resulted in 7358 trees being planted.
Flexiteek are pleased to be working with World Land Trust for a second year during 2021.
World Land Trust
With Plant a Tree, we have contributed to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate changes.
WLT works with in-country partners to protect crucial areas of land, selecting sites that are rich in biodiversity and that support long-term conservation goals to connect and enlarge protected areas. They support via a network of partners the reforestation process, from the planting and care of young trees, through to their establishment as new forest habitat.
In 2019, global deforestation reached 64 million acres a year.
But with your help, World Land Trust is helping to restore these lost forests. Reforestation is one of the main ecosystem restoration methods.
How it works
So far, support for Plant a Tree has planted over 2 million trees across 5,930 acres. Because our partners are involved in every step of the reforestation process, each £5 donation covers the seed collection, growing, planting and protection, guaranteeing a new forest to help biodiversity and tackle climate change.
From Seed to Sapling
It’s important to plant native tree species, so our partners collect seeds from carefully selected tree species to grow in their tree nurseries.
Putting Down Roots
Saplings are tended to in a nursery until they are ready to be taken on site. Each Plant a Tree project is unique. In Borneo, local women receive education and employment. While the restoration of Atlantic Forest in Brazil provides educational opportunities for local schools
Growing a Forest
Every one of our partners nurture and protect these newly planted trees. This makes sure that the habitats successfully regreen, including replacing any seedlings that don’t survive
