Industry recognition highlights Flexiteek’s commitment to lower-impact marine materials and responsible manufacturing

Flexiteek, the global leader in synthetic marine decking, has been shortlisted for the British Marine Sustainability Award 2026, recognising the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact through innovation, responsible manufacturing, and independently verified sustainability initiatives.

The nomination centres on Flexiteek 3, the latest generation of the company’s synthetic decking solution, which represents a significant advancement in sustainable marine materials.

Flexiteek 3 is manufactured using bio-attributed PVC derived from Tall Oil, a by-product of sustainably managed forestry operations. By replacing fossil-based feedstocks with renewable raw materials, Flexiteek 3 achieves a reduction of more than 80% in greenhouse gas emissions associated with PVC production, while maintaining the durability, safety, and performance required in demanding marine environments.

The material is independently certified through the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB), providing verification of its responsible sourcing credentials. Flexiteek 3 also uses REACH-compliant materials and phthalate-free plasticisers, meeting stringent European environmental and safety standards.

Sustainability is not a standalone initiative at Flexiteek; they embed it into how they design products, operate their facilities, and work with partners across the world. Flexiteek’s sustainability performance is independently assessed through internationally recognised standards, including ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 9001 Quality Management, and EcoVadis Silver 2025/26, which places the company among the top 15% of companies globally assessed by EcoVadis.
