Flexiteek International to Acquire Wilks
Flexiteek International, the global leader in synthetic teak decking and the 2G technology, has reached an agreement to acquire Wilks, manufacturer of marine fendering. The acquisition will secure Flexiteek’s position as the market leader in synthetic teak decking and now also marine fendering.
Wilks, based in Essex, was established in 1973. The family-owned company is well recognised within the marine market as one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of marine fendering worldwide. Wilks has a reputation for quality and high levels of customer service. The company has been manufacturing part of the Flexiteek range for over three years.
“The acquisition of Wilks will provide a high-quality manufacturing base with research and development facilities. This will enable Flexiteek to continue to develop innovative and first-class synthetic decking systems for years to come,” says Tomas Gustafsson, CEO of Flexiteek International AB. “Incorporating the existing Dek-King network into our own means that the Wilks marine fendering range can now also be supplied through our existing distributors worldwide.”

Introduced in 2000, Flexiteek is the original synthetic teak and developer of 2G technology. It has since developed a network of over 100 distributors across 40 countries.
Wilks own 2G synthetic teak range, Dek-King, will merge accordingly with the Flexiteek brand in late 2019.
Flexiteek plan to retain the Wilks manufacturing premises in Essex along with all employees. This then enables the combination of the skillset of both companies to serve the international marine market.
The acquisition will facilitate the supply of synthetic teak and fendering to a list of OEM clients that include Royal Huisman, Hanse Group, Jeanneau Beneteau Group, Princess Yachts, Gulf Craft and also Sunseeker International.
