Changing for the Better
Like any product, Flexiteek 3 has an environmental footprint. We are taking steps to minimise its impact by removing fossil-fuel based PVC and replacing it with a bio-attributed PVC, made from tree oil from sustainably managed forestry. And we continue to use REACH-compliant, phthalate-free plasticisers.
We also support initiatives that help the environment, such as our partnership with World Land Trust to plant trees in areas of deforestation, typically due to teak farming. Across our four global locations, we are installing ground-source heat pumps, solar panels, EV chargers and implementing measures like water recycling in our manufacturing process.

World Land Trust
We are proud to support World Land Trust (WLT), an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats, acre by acre.
For every 10m² of Flexiteek that we sell, we donate £5 to fund reforestation of vital habitats through WLT’s Plant A Tree programme. This is currently supporting WLT partners in Brazil, India and Armenia. We’ve planted over 44 acres of trees so far!
We have been planting future forests with World Land Trust since 2021.

Decking Made Responsibly
Since the launch of Flexiteek 2G in 2014 we have been working to develop a more sustainable synthetic decking product. The result is the use of bio-attributed PVC which is derived from the use of Tall Oil (from trees). Tall oil has similar properties to fossil-fuel-based PVC but without the environmental dilemmas.
Flexiteek 3 is the only synthetic decking using bio-attributed PVC.
The Tall Oil is produced from renewable and managed forestry locations in Sweden, Finland, and the USA.
Flexiteek 3 is certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) to meet the standard for advanced products.
Our latest range produces up to 80% less greenhouse gases when compared to fossil-fuel based PVC.

Making Changes At Our Global Locations

Flexiteek Sweden
We opened our Swedish production hub in Fagersta in the summer of 2024. It features a number of features helping to make this location more sustainable:
- The building is our most energy-efficient global location.
- A ground-source heat pump provides 85% of the energy used.
- Solar panels also provide additional energy and at certain times of the year we sell the surplus to the national grid in Sweden.
- Electric vehicle charging connections are available for team members and visitors.
Flexiteek UK Headquarters
We manufacture all our products at our Essex, UK location, where we’ve adopted robust sustainability practices for the future:
- We recycle over 80% of the water in our product manufacturing process.
- We recycle up to 70% of our surplus Flexiteek products in the UK.
- We use REACH-compliant phthalate-free plasticisers in our products.
- We recycle 100% of our general waste including all cardboard and general rubbish. We have now introduced waste food recycling.
